[NEWS] ‘K-Pop from Japan’- The Boss 2011.11.00

5-member idol group The Boss is commonly referred to as ‘K-Pop re-exported from Japan’, as they used ‘Japan-First Korea-Later’ strategy in their performance.
Unlike how most of other rookie idols advance to the overseas market only after gaining some popularity in Korea, The Boss debuted in Korea in March 2010 and proceeded right to Japan in September the same year. They finally came back to Korea after a successful performance of 3 Japanese Singles in a year and four months.
It is of course worth all their trouble to be called as ‘More popular in Japan’, but some opinions suffest that they might’ve had gained more popularity in Korea before finally advancing to Japan.
“When we first went to Japan, we weren’t as popular. K-Pop wasn’t as popular neither. However we had the energy of optimism. ‘Let’s gain more experiences’ we all agreed, and I guess that’s how The Boss matured after step-to-step experiences.” (Karam)
‘Hardwork and sweat do not disappoint’, The Boss shows great performances with the spirit.
“We started off in a small Live Cafe where around 130 people listened. But on our last stage were more than 7000 fans, and it brought me tears. I scarsely cry, you know. (laughs)” (Karam)
Japanese fans lauded the five young idols who had achieved development and success out of nothing.
“What was as important as music was communication. We studied hard with a Japanese  teacher who knew no Korean at all, and learnt more than 50 words a day. We were challenging to J-pop afterall. Learning to speak Japanese fluently also allowed us to perform more widely.” (Hyunmin)
The Boss, after having huge concerts of 30,000 fans in Sapporo, Fukuoka, Nagoya and Osaka, finally headed back to Korea with more confidence and skill.
‘Lady’, The Boss’ first ballad number, called by many fans ‘Awesome Vocal’, ‘TIger Vocal’.
“As we’ve returned after so long, we wanted to show how much we’ve grown. Since ‘Lady’ is a ballad number I’m sure we’d display more mature vocal and uniqueness.” (Injun)
On the busy K-pop scene with Power-Girl Groups like Girls’ Generation and Wonder Girls, The Boss had still been welcomed by fans and managed to get the title of ‘Vocal Idol’.
“We’d been absent for a year and four months, but ‘Lady’ would show you how much we’ve learnt during the period. At the thought of being a real K-pop singer, every stages are such happy time for us.” (Injun)
